Today was the first Farmer's Market of the summer. It's always a fun event! Here is Eve with her fabulous green garlic and rhubarb...
The gals from the Community garden....
Karen Christner peddling her goodies....
And me!!
I didn't have much to sell, just a few perennials I'd potted up. I mostly use my booth to promote the garden. There are still quite a few people in Sitka who don't know about the u-pick. I put together a gift basket to showcase what we are picking out here and then I let people sign up for a drawing and gave the basket to the winner.
Right after the market was over I joined Mr. Adams who was at the dentist's office waiting for Levi to get out of surgery. We picked him up and brought him home. He was a little disoriented, but not too bad. Now he's eating mashed potatoes and gravy, watching a movie. Hopefully he will have a speedy recovery.
THE U-Pick GARDEN will be closing August 20th. This will be the last year the garden will be open to the public. Next year I'll be operating as a CSA, supplying about 20 regular customers with weekly boxes. Thank you for your support over the last 8 years, but it's time to try something new.
To get a copy of my book, "How To Grow Vegetables In Sitka, Alaska" just give me a call....The books are $20 plus tax. If you live out of town and want me to mail you a copy, you can mail a check for $25.60 to:
