Chores

Some mornings, when the sun is shining, I think that I'll just jump out of bed and head to the garden.  But that never seems possible.  There are always so many things that need to be done first.

Of course the first thing on the list is bathroom rituals.  You can't hardly skip that!

Afterwards I head to the livingroom to check the wood stove.  We have a fire almost every day in the year..even in the summer.

Before I am finished the cat is begging to be fed....

And outside the dog can hear me feeding the cat and expects to be fed too...

Then I figure I might as well feed myself...

Cereal is the obvious choice when you are in a hurry to get outside.  While I am in the kitchen I might also empty the dishwasher or tidy up.  It is at this point that I realize that the plants in window are on the verge of dying and demand immediate attention!

Now I head back to the living room and sit down at the computer for just a second to check facebook and read emails and see how many hits there have been on the blog.  Some mornings I pay some of the bills too....

When I finally get up from the desk I see my Bible laying there...

My day just goes better when I put God first...well this morning He was second after facebook...I'm reading through the message Bible right now, doing a study on prayer.

I have a lot of questions about prayer....how it works...how to pray for others....what words to use....I've been keeping a journal of all the prayers in the Bible....I am still confused as to how it all works but know that God wants us to pray.

By now the ducks are quacking.  I like to leave them in until at least 10:00 a.m. to be sure they lay their eggs IN the hutch!  On the way out to the hutch I grab the bucket of spent grain, the basket for gathering eggs and any greens I've collected for them to snack on...

They can hear me coming so they kick the quacking up a notch.  Once they actually see me they really quack in earnest!  They are just dying to get out!

When I open the door they just come pouring out!  I have tried to take photos of this hilarious routine, but they just don't do it justice!

Next I collect the eggs...

And then head back indoors to the kitchen to wash and candle them...

Then I make sure the carton is labeled and ready for my daily egg customer.

If there is time I will run into town to do errands or pick up the mail.  This morning I didn't have time, but Mr. Adams brought the mail home for me....I got a letter from my Mother today!!

I look at the clock and see that it is time to open the garden!

I walk down to the road and take the "closed" signs down....

NOW  I can slow down and do some gardening.  I wonder how there can be so many things that HAVE to be done in the morning....but I can't think of a single one that could have been left out!

  1. I didn't see "read about Daphne and Christian's interesting life" anywhere in your morning routine...
