THE U-Pick GARDEN will be closing August 20th. This will be the last year the garden will be open to the public. Next year I'll be operating as a CSA, supplying about 20 regular customers with weekly boxes. Thank you for your support over the last 8 years, but it's time to try something new.

Down To Earth U-Pick Garden is located at 2103 Sawmill Creek Road in Sitka, Alaska. It is open usually from mid-June through late August. Hours are Monday-Saturday 12:00 to 6:30. On Farmer's Market Saturdays I am not open until 2:00. Children are welcome but may not run through the garden or chase the ducks. Coming Home (Friday afternoon)

When I finally had enough antiquing I took the back roads to Albany and my childhood home.  I was amazed at the emotions that washed over me as I started seeing farms and fields...


I love living in Sitka....the challenges and adventurous life, but this.....this is what runs through by veins.  This is where I came from...and no matter where I live and no matter what I do I  know I am just trying to recreate this.

The Willamette Valley is amazingly fruitful and the crops are so diverse.  Just while I was driving this short stretch of highway I saw fields of squash, corn, wheat, grapes, apples, hazelnuts, hops, ryegrass, blueberries, raspberries,strawberries and many other things I didn't identify as I drove past.





It's said that the land can heal you and I think it's true.

I stopped in Salem for dinner and then headed for home...


My Grandparents build this place and now my parents live here....


Idyllic isn't it?

    GREAT pictures Lori, kinda sad my little blue pool didn't make the cut but I understand. Ha ha just kidding. I love the picture of your parents front porch, awesome. Glad you made it home safe.
