First stop....Hippo Hardware....
They have these great pillars outside...
This is a fun place to shop! They have a ton of stuff and it is just packed in there, but very, very organized.
It doesn't look like that big of a shop when you first step in, but as you start exploring you find that there are different levels and rooms off of rooms. It was a really fun stop.
Next stop.....
This is a great place too, but I've always felt like it was more expensive than the other places in town. If you need a specific part to refurbish an antique though....they will have it.
They had a great sink...but it was too small...
One nice thing about Rejuvinations is that they have a yummy coffee/sandwich place inside!
Too bad I wasn't hungry yet!
The next stop was only about a block away....
This place mixes new, antique and reproduction items in a very tastful and artistic way...
They have a wide selection of really nice, clean items at slightly high but reasonable prices.
The next stop was the sketchiest stop of my entire trip. I wasn't REALLY worried because it was broad daylight....
It was way back under the bridges, and had bums outside......
And piles of stuff inside...
I think this place is more for the housebuilder on a budget than it is for an antique hound....but you never know..when you are on a mission for something you have to check EVERY place because you never know where it might show up.
Then I found this place....
It is kind of the same type of place, but had a WIDE selection of some really good things....
Look at these guys digging through all the pvc fittings for the one that's "just right"....
As I was heading to the next stop I happened to see this sign and remembered that "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" did an episode on these guys and they are supposed to have the best biscuit meals around, and since I was hungry I decided to stop in and check them out.
I was not disappointed.....
It was heaven on a biscuit and I ate every last bite. People were there so I didn't lick the plate, but I wanted to. That is a breaded and fried chicken breast under all that gravy and cheese. If you are ever in the Portland area you really should stop in....it's just a tiny hole in the wall with limited seating, but so, so yummy!
By now I was tired of taking pictures and my Iphone was overheating and the battery was running low, but I perservered and carried on because Karen Cunningham said I had to take photos of every single place I visited so she could know where to go, so....I valiently charged on
Next stop....
Once I was inside I realized that I had been there before. They have nice things, but their prices are really high and they don't have a really wide selection.
The next stop was an antique mall that I have visited many times in the past.
They have lots of booths...
A wonderful showroom of antiques mixed with new items and plants and garden decor...
And a darling coffee/dessert counter....
The next stop wasn't quite as nice...
Almost all of their stuff was outside...
As I was walking around one of the owners said, "Watch your feet". I figured she was talking about nails in boards and stuff like that, but no....this is what she was talking about...
Sheesh...thanks for the warning! I was in flip-flops!
This place was kind of a mess...
I know this place is a mess, but it is just the type of place where you could find the type of sink I am looking for back in the weeds or something...but no such luck. And, it was the last stop of the day!
Was I tired!
There are some neat places south of Portland......
ReplyDeleteThe next day I hit Aurora and McMinnville and now am in Albany. Do you have other great suggestions of cool places?
