We did some work on the boat today, but it wasn't a hard day because we are not leaving until 5:00 pm tomorrow night. The only thing exciting that happened in the garden today was that Absolute Tree Care delivered my load of wood chips!
These chips work great for clean pathway material in between my rows. They are large chunks so they don't blow away in the wind and they last for several years before they break down. If they do happen to get mixed in with the dirt in a bed it's not a terrible thing like gravel would be. Just give them a year or two and they will be dirt!
If you were curious about how our weather was today- it was gray, gloomy and rainy as usual.
THE U-Pick GARDEN will be closing August 20th. This will be the last year the garden will be open to the public. Next year I'll be operating as a CSA, supplying about 20 regular customers with weekly boxes. Thank you for your support over the last 8 years, but it's time to try something new.
To get a copy of my book, "How To Grow Vegetables In Sitka, Alaska" just give me a call....The books are $20 plus tax. If you live out of town and want me to mail you a copy, you can mail a check for $25.60 to:
