Day 4

Well, it turns out that old tires turn square after they've been driven a few too many miles. We knew that the tires on the truck were old, and we figured we would be buying new ones soon, but we didn't know that we would be buying them today!

Our day started out with breakfast at the Waffle House, where Mr. Adams chatted up the locals. The truck is a real conversation starter, which gives us an opportunity to visit with all kinds of folks wherever we go.

After eating our waffles and grits we hit the Interstate. While cruising along at the brisk rate of 65 miles per hour we felt a little bit of shimmying now and then.....but it didn't seem too serious. Eventually we just got tired of the Interstate, and we decided to slow down and take the back roads, which is our preferred mode of travel. But as we slowed down the shimmying took on a whole new level.... somewhere around the "clown car" level.....and after some investigation Mr. Adams decided that one of the tires was actually falling apart, so once again I put him to work.... taking off the offending tire and putting on the spare.

And we were on our way again....straight to the nearest Costco in Memphis....where we bought 4 new beautiful tires. Thanks, Mike!

Tennessee is beautiful and there are so many cool things to do....but as we started to drive off into the sunset with our new tires we were starting to wonder if we were ever going to get out of the state! And then.....all of a sudden it happened....we were crossing the Mississippi River....and we were in Arkansas!

Good night from Little Rock, Arkansas!
