Day 12

We've been home in Sitka now for about 3 days and I've been swamped trying to catch up on things here, but I haven't quite finished telling our road trip story....I'm a little behind!

We spent day 12 in Creswell, Oregon with my Mother and Father in-law, Lyle and Lorene.

Big Mr. Adams is just as handy as little Mr. Adams, and he has a shop, so after we let him take the truck for a spin we put him to work on a project!

When we bought the truck it only had one small, round side mirror on the driver's side.

The mirror was cool because it was original, but it was too small and I didn't feel safe changing lanes and backing up, so we bought a larger, rectangular mirror at an auto parts store.

What a difference!! The only thing that would make it better was if there was one on the passenger side too. We bought a second mirror and I figured maybe someday I would shop online to find another original bracket.

But better yet, if you have 2 handy guys and a welder, they can make one themselves!!

First, we draped the truck with rugs to protect it.

I'm not as handy as the guys, but I tried to be helpful....

Then, little Mr. Adams welded on the bracket.

Beautiful!

Looks kind of like a kick-stand for a bike!

After cleaning up the weld with a wire brush....

We installed the passenger side mirror. How awesome is that?!?!

Thanks, Mr. Adams!
