Down To Earth: The Fundraiser

THE U-Pick GARDEN will be closing August 20th. This will be the last year the garden will be open to the public. Next year I'll be operating as a CSA, supplying about 20 regular customers with weekly boxes. Thank you for your support over the last 8 years, but it's time to try something new.

Down To Earth U-Pick Garden is located at 2103 Sawmill Creek Road in Sitka, Alaska. It is open usually from mid-June through late August. Hours are Monday-Saturday 12:00 to 6:30. On Farmer's Market Saturdays I am not open until 2:00. Children are welcome but may not run through the garden or chase the ducks. The Fundraiser

This is one of the main reasons I flew home and did not stay with the boat...the annual Sitka High Swim Team Fundraiser. We have one fundraising event a year and it is BIG. It takes everyone to pull it off, but it comes off great every year. We sell a great prime rib dinner that is served by the kids that includes a dessert bar, there are tables of silent auction items and then we auction off the the kids for 8 hours of work a piece. It is always heavily attended and everyone has a great time!

It was a great evening, but I am tired and glad it is over. Now I can concentrate on getting things in order here....like mail, bills and other important things!
