The Flight Back

We were scheduled to be back in town with the boat by October 5, but Mr. Adams decided to extend the trip by a few more days, so I had to catch a float plane back to town...I had business to take care of!  Don't you feel sorry for me?  There's nothing quite like flying in a small plane over these mountains....I love it!

And here is my trusty pilot, Kenny Bellows who operates Air Sitka.  Kenny is the most experienced pilot in Southeast Alaska.  He has been flying for over 40 years in Alaska and has logged over 40,000 hours!!!
We have known Kenny for quite a few years, and Mr. Adams always enjoys chatting with him.

Once we were in the air Kenny did a fly-by of the boat....which was awesome!

And then we headed for Sitka.  It was blue sky with patchy clouds where we were with the boat, but as we reached the head of the bay the clouds increased and the ceiling was quite low....can we squeak underneath?

Nope...we couldn't, so Kenny started circling and circling upward, just like the eagles do....

Until we got above the clouds...

There's Mount Edgecumbe, our extinct volcano, off in the distance.  It was smooth sailing all the way and clear over Sitka so we landed with no problems.  It was a beautiful flight!...thanks Kenny!
