10 Random Tidbits

1. I just got back from a trip to the lower 48, and while I was there I stopped in to see my folks at the home place....

photo courtesy of Melissa Kemple last summer

My Dad was still outstanding in his field....

And while I was there I got to see a couple of my greats too...

I kept busy on the plane...

And enjoyed looking out the window....

But I had one bad experience on one particular flight segment. The gal who sat beside me industriously scratched her head THE WHOLE FLIGHT while she was reading her book. And periodically she would examine and clean out her fingernails. I was terrified that I would end up with head lice. If the next time you see me I am either bald or have really short hair you will know why.

2. Mr. Adams joined me for part of my travels and he took me to this fabulous Brazilian Grill. The waiters bring out delicious grilled meats on these ridiculously long knives....

And serve grilled pineapple too!  It was so yummy!!!

3. It was nice while I was in Oregon...but I hear that it's snowing like a banshee down there now. This was the view from my window here in Sitka today....

4. Even though it's beautiful...it's freezing! I'm always amazed that the cold weather doesn't seem to bother the ducks. I can't think of a colder place than sitting in the ice water, but they seem really happy!

Silly ducks!

5. All of the seeds I mail ordered have arrived! I made the commitment last year to try to only buy organic seeds from now on. It makes it a little harder to get the varieties I want. This year I ordered some of the seeds from these folks....

Jere and Emilee Gettle. And their 2 beautiful little girls!

And this is their wonderful catalog...

Although I have drooled over their catalog for years, this is the first time I've ordered anything out of it.

The photos in their catalog are so beautiful!!!

Everything I ordered arrived in a very short time with free shipping, and they even threw in some free packets just for fun.

I love the vintage style drawings on the these seed packets....

6. I've been at the computer most of the time since I got home, and I FINALLY  finished writing up my Crochet Fair Isle Mittens pattern today!

I think my brains are fried.

7. On what seems like a completely unrelated note I've noticed that I've developed wrinkles on the left side of my mouth. I thought it was odd that they showed up on only the left side. no photo provided!

8. And then I noticed that when I sit at the computer for hours and hours I tend to do this....

That explains it.

9. I like to wind down in the evening by stopping in at the brewery...

Oh, relax people!!! Those of you who know me well, know I'm a teetotaller!  I stop there to grab spent grain for my ducks.  Because they like it, and it's good for them, and it's free.

10. I just ate the last of the carrots from last year's garden.....

They were so crunchy and sweet and delicious I just couldn't believe it.
In the words of Robby Jarvill....They should be illegal!
