Here are some of my favorite things.....things that make me happy...
Connie has been living with us, and every morning she makes me an iced coffee, and when I get up it's in the refrigerator waiting for me in my giant mug....
She's leaving tomorrow, so I will have to make it now myself.
Kitty....all snuggled up in the quilts.
Levi says that a house without a cat is not a home.....and I wholeheartedly agree.
This cast iron bank...
You place a coin on the end of the gun barrel and press down the hunter's foot, and the coin flies into the bear's belly.
This cast iron nut cracker...
Mr. Adams found it at a garage sale for $1.00.
I love this clock...
It's a new clock that is made to look old. Mr. Adams and our friend Skip found it at a little junk shop way off the beaten path back in the woods for just $3.00.
This is Ben's 2013 Calendar.....
I love it when a month is practically clear of pressing commitments!
These mugs are beautiful....
It's like celebrating Christmas every day!
This my electric sewing machine that I use at home....it sews like a dream.
My Mother bought it for me when I was about 13 (and not the least bit interested in sewing). She found it in the classified ads and went out alone one dark and stormy night to buy it...brought it home and showed it to me and I was not impressed. Granted, I had good reason, I WAS RIGHT in the middle of watching my favorite show on TV and didn't want to be interrupted. WOW!! if we could only go back in time and fix all the stupid things we did when we were young. Oh well, Mother was not to be deterred....she sanded down the cabinet and re-varnished it and was so patient.....and in time I came to LOVE sewing....just like her!
My Dad made these awesome coasters for us....
They are slices from Black Walnut tree branches from his farm....Aren't they just the coolest thing ever? I love the thick, black, chunky bark and the rich brown colored rings.
But the thing I love most in our cozy little house is this....
The woodstove. It truly is the center and heart of our home...it's what makes it warm and inviting....and friends who come driving up our driveway are always glad when they see smoke coming from our chimney!
