At low tide I've been collecting seaweed....
I use it to mulch around the vegetables.
It feeds the plants while discouraging weeds and retaining moisture.
Seaweed is truly the most amazing stuff....and it's free.... I bring it home by the truckloads!
And....because my Dad requested it....an update on the ducks. Here are our 3 babies....
They're getting big, aren't they?
The ducks do not really enjoy all of the hot weather we are having. They spend most of the day laying in the Raspberry patch in the shade.
I think they are hoping it rains pretty soon.
THE U-Pick GARDEN will be closing August 20th. This will be the last year the garden will be open to the public. Next year I'll be operating as a CSA, supplying about 20 regular customers with weekly boxes. Thank you for your support over the last 8 years, but it's time to try something new.
To get a copy of my book, "How To Grow Vegetables In Sitka, Alaska" just give me a call....The books are $20 plus tax. If you live out of town and want me to mail you a copy, you can mail a check for $25.60 to:

How are they so big already??! That's amazing. I'm glad human babies don't grow that fast.
