When I stand in the field behind my Sister's house I can look to my right and see my parent's house...the house I grew up in....
Just across the road from their farm I can see my Cousin's farm....
Straight ahead of me is my Sister's house....
A little to the left I can see the old site of the 3-roomed grade school I attended when I was a child, and just behind that is my Second Cousin's farm....
And on my left, off in the distance, I can see another Cousin's farm, and just beyond that is my Brother's farm....
Everyone I know here lives in the country.
Country people raise sheep....
They barbeque hogs for special events....
And they grow amazing things like grapes...
Corn...
Hydrangeas......
Apples....
And tomatoes....
I miss my garden.
THE U-Pick GARDEN will be closing August 20th. This will be the last year the garden will be open to the public. Next year I'll be operating as a CSA, supplying about 20 regular customers with weekly boxes. Thank you for your support over the last 8 years, but it's time to try something new.
To get a copy of my book, "How To Grow Vegetables In Sitka, Alaska" just give me a call....The books are $20 plus tax. If you live out of town and want me to mail you a copy, you can mail a check for $25.60 to:
