THE U-Pick GARDEN will be closing August 20th. This will be the last year the garden will be open to the public. Next year I'll be operating as a CSA, supplying about 20 regular customers with weekly boxes. Thank you for your support over the last 8 years, but it's time to try something new.

Down To Earth U-Pick Garden is located at 2103 Sawmill Creek Road in Sitka, Alaska. It is open usually from mid-June through late August. Hours are Monday-Saturday 12:00 to 6:30. On Farmer's Market Saturdays I am not open until 2:00. Children are welcome but may not run through the garden or chase the ducks. Calvin And Hobbes

In order to prevent excessive inbreeding I recently got rid of most of my male ducks and have been trying to get a hold of some fresh ones to replace them, but haven't had much luck. So what do you do when you find yourself in need of some male ducks?  You go visit Les at the Fortress of the Bear of course!


And while you are there of course you need to take a look at the bears....




And if you're lucky you might even get to feed them grapes and apple slices through the gate!

Les always has a few ducks around the place, and we ended up with a couple of really nice looking drakes.

There are in the "suite" right now and will probably stay there for a couple of weeks. The girls were visiting with them through the screen door this morning...I hope they like it here!
