A Little Snow

A couple of days ago we had the first snowfall of the season that amounted to anything....

The ducks are a little confused, but very tolerant.  I am always amazed that they don't seem to get cold...

I mean.....where would be the one place you wouldn't want to be on a cold, snowy day?  In the water!!!

Yet, they act like that is their preferred place to be.  Don't their feet get cold?

  1. Like your Duck Crossing sign. How long do you keep 'Lucky' seperate before allowing him to mingle?

  2. Usually I keep new ducks separate for 2 weeks. They can see each other through the fencing and are acclimated to each other by the time I let them out. There will be some skirmishes but not as many as there would have been if I would have just thrown them together. With young ducks I usually keep them separated longer so they don't get too picked on. With Lucky I will have to wait until he is healthy enough to fend for himself. I don't know how long that will be...he is limping pretty bad
