Pea-Planting Time

Last night I started soaking the pea seeds in water.

This is how they looked this morning...

 Nice and plump.
I'm always nervous to put them in water because once you do you are committed to planting them within 24 hours, and once you plant them you are committed to covering them before you quit for the day or the birds will eat every one of them.  Don't ask me how they know there are in there, 2 inches under the soil...they just do.   Here they are with the innoculant...

 Well, they are in...

....and covered with whatever I could find in the dark.  The last 10 feet of one row is covered with coats that were hanging in the sunroom.  Tomorrow is another day, I will fix it in the morning.

  1. That's such a great way to start the pea seeds! Do you have to have any holes in the jar lids?

  2. No, but the lids were not screw on tight, just loose.

  3. I love reading your blog. :) Do you ever sit still? I bet you even crochet while walking around busy cooking, gardening, reading or whatever. You're amazing. When do you leave on the boat?

  4. I'm glad you like the blog! It's fun to do. I do not sit still, not this time of year. I leave on the boat Monday, so I want everything done before I go.
